Israel's Pirate Raid

As the news is trickling out, we find that all the ships were searched before they left and had no weapons. The Israeli spokesperson now says either there were weapons on board or activists seized weapons of the pirate stormtroopers and shot them. It doesn't seem to occur to him that Israeli soldiers might have shot other Israeli soldiers. Former US Ambassador Edward Peck put it all into perspective. 'The Israelis told me, 'You’ve broken Israeli law.' I said, ‘Which one?’ They said, 'You have entered the country illegally.' I said, 'I’m sorry.' But if I’m brought into the country under armed escort that is not entering the country illegally. Forcibly." Since when is it a crime to be kidnapped?  The Israeli military has tried to embargo all information; they confiscated phones, cameras, etc. But their version of what happened is so completely ridiculous that it will not gain them much except in the servile US media. Today, though, I even saw a television commentator saying that Obama really needs to make a statement. Unfortunately, he has no spine on this or any other important issue. His real slogan is "No, we can't." More and more, Israel is revealed as the apartheid pariah state that it is. But, if we could force Reagan to break with South Africa, we can force Obama to break with Israel. Without US support, Israel and its brutal, inhuman, and dishonorable actions cannot stand. In 1983, I represented an NGO in Geneva at the United Nations International Conference on the Question of Palestine. I had the opportunity to address the governments there. I told them that the only way to make peace was to end US support for Israel. That is still the bottom line today.
